WHO ARE WE?

The Pūrākaunui Block Inc was formed in 1973 to create a formal structure for the management of the Maori freehold land at Pūrākaunui.

The shareholders of the Incorporation agreed to this structure. A management committee, appointed by the shareholders, manages the day-to-day affairs of the Incorporation, following the Strategic Plan approved by shareholders.

A constitution was adopted in 2020 to give better definition to the relationship between shareholders and management committee.

The committee reports each year to shareholders at the AGM.

The shareholders are descendants of the original owners living at Pūrākaunui at the time of Walter Mantell’s visit in 1848.
